London City is located in Southern Ontario along the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor. The city is situated approximately 200 km from Toronto and Detroit Michigan. Much of the city’s geography is dominated by the Thames River. Both the south and north branches of Thames River meet at the centre of the city. This is widely known as “The Forks of the Thames.” London has a long history of how it evolved into the city it is today.

During the early 1800s, the city was proposed to be the capital of Upper Canada by John Graves Simcoe, who was also the same person who had named the city and Thames River. By 1840, London was becoming large enough to be incorporated as a town.

Over the years, London eventually became incorporated as a city as it had annexed communities surrounding it. The city has grown to be the 11th largest metropolitan area in Canada.

Today, London currently has a population of about 383,822 people. This population fluctuates more often with approximately 40,000 students going in and out of the university throughout the year. As top educational institutions, the city has Fanshawe College and University of Western Ontario. However, education and work are only a small portion of what London has to offer.

The city is also known for its well-established arts community and arts councils. Its thriving cultural and arts scene attract more and more residents each year. London also hosts year-round community festivals and events where local artists can showcase their talents.

London is home to several natural landscapes accompanied by historical buildings, offering its residents with beautiful views they can enjoy. London actively takes part in preserving its green communities. Some of these initiatives include the Active & Green Communities and Lake Erie Action Plan.

London provides its residents with several services to get around the city and to where they want to get to. These include the Greyhound Bus, London International Airport, London Transit, and VIA Rail.

Top reasons for buying a home in London:

  1. Diverse community
  2. Healthy housing market
